“Guggimon “High-Voltage” —

Came home to find the very awesome High Voltage edition Guggimon figure from Superplastic and Guggimon waiting for me to open him up and take him out for the first time. I almost passed on this figure as I was not super into the Work and Play edition for the Kickstarter campaign, but after this version came out I knew right away that I would have to pick one up. This particular design just goes with my collection better than the Work and Play addition and I like the accessories that came with is version over the original.

Only 666 editions produced.

What is Superplastic

  • Superplastic was founded in 2018 by artist-entrepreneur Paul Budnitz and designer/artist Huck Gee.

  • Their core output: limited-edition designer art toys — stylized vinyl figures and sculptures that combine street art, pop culture, fashion, and collectible-art aesthetics rather than being simple children’s toys.

  • Their “characters” — such as Janky, Guggimon, Kranky / SuperKranky — function as more than toys: partly as designer canvases, partly as pop-culture icons and synthetic “celebrities.”

  • What makes them special: limited runs + artist/brand collabs + high detail + a fusion of art, fashion, and urban/street culture.

As a result, Superplastic toys are often considered collectible art pieces and are popular among collectors of designer toys, modern art fans, and people interested in street-art aesthetics.

What to keep in mind: Because many items were limited or sold out quickly, sometimes prices on resale markets can be steep; and — as with many collectible markets — value depends heavily on demand and rarity. Some collectors treat them as art rather than investments.
