What is Superplastic

  • Superplastic was founded in 2018 by artist-entrepreneur Paul Budnitz and designer/artist Huck Gee.

  • Their core output: limited-edition designer art toys — stylized vinyl figures and sculptures that combine street art, pop culture, fashion, and collectible-art aesthetics rather than being simple children’s toys.

  • Their “characters” — such as Janky, Guggimon, Kranky / SuperKranky — function as more than toys: partly as designer canvases, partly as pop-culture icons and synthetic “celebrities.”

  • What makes them special: limited runs + artist/brand collabs + high detail + a fusion of art, fashion, and urban/street culture.

As a result, Superplastic toys are often considered collectible art pieces and are popular among collectors of designer toys, modern art fans, and people interested in street-art aesthetics.

What to keep in mind: Because many items were limited or sold out quickly, sometimes prices on resale markets can be steep; and — as with many collectible markets — value depends heavily on demand and rarity. Some collectors treat them as art rather than investments.
